I feel first and I think later I watch those who can and I copy them. I hear sounds and I make meaning. I listen so I may take the right path I am often told when it is the wrong one. I speak so someone will hear me I talk so no one forgets I'm here. I read to learn the thoughts of those older, wiser, and more experienced than me. I write to prove that I am good enough that I belong and that my words matter. I watch to see what happens next I play while I am waiting. I don't realize I am learning until I look back at how far I've come. I read to lose myself, just for a minute. Those other realities seem so enchanting, but mine is what I make it and I run to catch up. The momentum of my mentors always sweeps me forward I cannot let them down, even if they'd let me I hear what they say, it echoes in my mind. One day children will copy me. they will listen for meaning in my words. They will express themselves They will be heard. I will be heard.

I do not fit anywhere, except with my PQR group. I am neither the care-free, selfish, and free-spirited teenager I once was, nor am I an adult with morgages, children, and responsibilities. Always though, am I learning. When I was sixteen I decided I was going to change the world. When I was twenty-two I figured out how. Be the change you want to see in the world.
